There's something about the area that is very attractive to us - almost magical.
The greenery, rural setting, waterfront, and a good amount of culture. The folks in the area make a conscious effort to preserve their history and architecture. There is a strong "green movement" here, and many of the people are definitely ex-hippies .
Music is popular here, and the local state park - Fort Worden - sponsors several festivals. We attended the Jazz and Blues festivals recently.
Unfortunately, neither was as good as previous years. Maybe it's the economy.
Mimi gets an A+ for pursuing new interests on this trip. She has begun playing bridge with a group in the park and also in town.
Also, she has taken-up knitting and crocheting. Warning!! Get ready for some interesting Christmas gifts....
Recently we went on a tour of the different gardens in the Escapee's Park.
This RV park is exceptionally well landscaped. The more permanent residents take lots of pride in keeping the park beautiful. Mimi is planning a blog in the near future focusing on the gardening aspects here.
This weekend we went to the Jefferson County Fair. A small and very traditional one. Mimi liked the llama and goat exhibits.
I have been pursuing the elusive Dungeness Crab. It has been quite a learning experience - not without personal danger and injury! A special blog entitled "Deadliest Catch" is in the works also.
Tomorrow we plan a day trip to Seattle. We'll drive to an island south of here and take a ferry across Puget Sound. Should be fun.
The weather here has been variable. Generally cool and sunny, it has varied from very hot and muggy to cloudy and misty. Fortunately, I think the cloudy and misty stuff is behind us now.
